what’s up guys? Summer is fastly approaching and as a garage grower I am wondering how you guys beating the heat in your set ups. Right now my plan is to finish up my current run then skip the summer altogether and pick back up in late August early September.
I have my grow space inside an old shipping container.
Sort of similar to the garage.
We simply installed a window AC unit into the side.
Perhaps a similar idea would work.
May have to run some dryer vent ducting if you can’t install directly.
Just an
idea
Possible dumb question but does that spike your energy usage?
Not too bad, I did the math once. It added roughly 40 bucks to mine, but my little conex is framed out and insulated. And I never turn it off, so even if the ac compressor isn’t running, the fan still is
Oh, I run 2 big 3x4 650wts, 2 medium sized 2x2 1600wts, and 2 small, 2000wts lights, and a dehumidifier
Mine is just the little 7000btu Walmart special for 100$, been running for 3 years
And no, that’s not a dumb question ![]()

, no such thing ![]()
Kelp (SuperTrive) is amazing for heat stress!
For removing air, bigger extractor will generally have good fresh air coming in.
That’s what I do — i didn’t like the pain of trying to beat the heat in an upstairs room (+ tent ) in summer, so i just start in late Sept/Oct and make it my winter activity since summer’s usually pretty busy anyway.
Us too. We start in September, done by Christmas, the jan, and they drying now, then we’ll plant our big photos and just watch em grow.
I keep em watered and fed. But that’s about all I do, just let em grow
Is 40$ your total energy cost for lights fan everything,?
Im in upstairs room too and yes it can be a pain in arse
Yeah, we run the thing at night and the lights normally keep it warm enough that no heat is required, during the day fan keeps it cool enough as long as it’s not super hot, above 80, so the biggest expense is the lights. Our AC unit runs constantly, but the compressor only runs during the day, when the sun heats it up.i have a louvered exhaust fan from a paint booth that is temperature controlled that will keep it cool enough as long as the sun isn’t cooking with the lights on.
Ya i cant run my big light over 75% because of heat. I was very pleased with reaults from this new mars tsl i got im gonna go all the led soon as i can afford it
I had tried some cheaper leds and a viparspectre and it just didnt produce nugs like my old hps. But theyve gotten better recently seems like. What type is your 3x4
Oh really? I was hesitant about the bestva…there are so many choices.
I use the big ones directly over, and I augment sides and corners with the small ones, I have 4 small, and 2 big. If I had to replace em all, would probably be 2000$, I feel your pain, lol
Ya its hard on us poor boys.. lol. I know it gets expensive real fast.
