First time doing living soil and I’m wondering what are people’s experiences with it when working with 0 ppm water. What are you using to meet optimal EC/ppm requirements while getting everything delivered through the wicks for regular watering?
You want to add CalMag if running 0ppm water to remineralise back up to 75-100ppm. All the food is in the soil as organic matter that microbes break down to feed the plant.
Thanks! I had tried to follow charts and had added some calimagic and potassium silicate, and had it at 230 since I wasnt sure if I was off track.
Potassium silicate is good too at about 50-75ppm, I’d add that first then the CalMag.
Not saying this is wrong but shouldn’t calmag be first?
Like calmag then
Base nutes then w/e else?
It’s best to add the most reactive thing first.
Potassium Silicate is very reactive when in high concentration/pH solution, if you add it without diluting to a res with high levels of other minerals, especially Calcium and Magnesium, it will react, bind with and precipitate out of solution in non-bioavailable form.

Ok…that makes sense! Thanks for explaining
I agree with Mr. Nice. Silica first then cal mag. We use rain water with a ppm of 3. Pure water can etch and leach chemicals from plastics if it’s stored long period.
