I’d love to hear when everyone starts planting outdoors? I’m in south eastern ky and our climate can be pretty funky.
I put my weaklings out last year about May 1. Then we got 2 weeks of heavy, cold rain. Didn’t start moving again till June 1. So if they go out earlier then May 15 (the usual planting for this zone), have a plan for frost and rain protection.
My plan this year is starting April 1 indoors, have a robust start and begin hardening 2nd week of May, in the ground May 14 mostly because my daughters college graduation is May15 in Rhode Island and I’ll be gone for 5 days.
This all assumes no screwups on my end. Which is a big assumption!
Love south eastern Ky. Spend many ours on the Bad Branch and the state park near Wallins Creek (can’t remember the name.) Plan on doing the Pine Mtn. Trail this fall.. Gets spooky up near the Va. border.
Memorial Day. The light isnt quite ready till then and in the north frost is gone.
I will keep a light going for the rest of April to keep them from jumping in to flower. Freeze shouldn’t be a problem for me but if so pots will go in greenhouse. I’m in Northern California with last frost being around end of April
Especially if you’re doing clones
Speaking of clones … I have created a little Welcome Guide for new clones, you can check it out below.
Whatcha doin with the plant that’s chopped down in the middle? Regrowing it? That wasn’t the bonsai you chopped???
This is frosty truffle cake that I got out of a bag seed that my buddy in Michigan grows.it has a very unique leaf structure and was really good smoke so I’m going to reveg it and cut clones off of it.i had it under a 12/12 light cycle with my worm castings for two months so it wouldn’t grow because I didn’t have tent space[grid]

Almost like a Duckfoot leaf. You still have your bonsai, though? That thing is bad. Cool calendar pictures. Keep posting!
Them have all been harvested.i still have a tom hill haze landrace that has been in flower for 143 days and still has some time to go.i got some pretty amazing things planned on future projects,I’ll keep everyone updated..
153 day with time to go
You have some patience my friend. Getting ready to try a run of SSH, it better be worth it ![]()
Have you ever heard of or grown dr.grinspoon?
What if you are planting your clones outdoors? The guide says to bring indoors immediately!
Good spot @TheRusty will update the guide now – had my indoor growing hat on!
That is likely just for a short time before putting them outside. You should probably be sure it is not too cold at night outside before sending the little girls out there. ![]()
I was only giving feedback to the guide based on my experience 2 seasons ago.
I wasn’t planning on putting my plants outdoors until after frost date (5/1), but no matter when I start I have to keep a weather eye out for frost or hail. It was 88 yesterday. Go figure.
