I’ve got the older extendable Mars FC-E1000w I dim to 70% for flowering in a 5x5, and the FC-E3000 (300w) for veg.
I recommend bar lights that spread the diodes out wide as possible for the best light spread and efficiency as you can hang them much closer. Spectrum tuning is cool to have but more important is having enough light.
True, we have a few different lights but the medic grow work the best for mid veg and flower. We start under the spider farmer se5000. Then go to my tent for some more love. They stay there until ready for scrog tent or Don’s tent. Then he likes to scrog. After that we put them in flower room. We also have vivosun undermount lights that we weave in the underside of the plants.
I yield a lot more in my 5x5 with 700w LED than I did in my 4x4 with 600w HPS. They were great and I am nostalgic for them too but much less efficient yield/watt.
If I could get away with the heat I would have a 250w in my tent for the added red/IR. Have you tried a mixed LED/HPS setup in your room?
Nope, not together, we used to have HPS/ mh. We just use LEDs. The heat factor would be an issue. Nugs were dense. These autos aren’t that dense either. We can’t turn the light all the way up. Right now we’re in flower pars at 1000. Lights are at 60% 12 inches away. The undermount lights are mostly red. If you use the unders to early they burn!

I love the idea of spectrum control but your great point about light spread would be a great consideration. I’d have to daisy chain along with my controller and am considering it.
Also, these are so intense company recommends 2 to 3’ away most times. I learned it’s necessary!

Those Medic Grows 800w for $300 is hard to beat.
