Started the germination process for two seeds, both sour diesel. I’m excited to see how these plants turn out and how I fair along this journey. My fan is coming in Tuesday so it should be setup before the seeds sprout a taproot. Next next two and a half ish months is going to be one crazy ride. One day at a time
Seeds are from SeedSupreme
We’re in the same boat. Maybe learn together?
Gardener, composting over 30 yrs, pro landscaper. Know just about zilch growing cannabis. Long time grower brother in law states, “It’s a weed. Put it in the ground, feed it, water it and forget it.” I’m sure that’s not that is needed but I’m on my first run with sprouted seeds now in my varied mixture of compost, nutrient and amendments.
Started seedling with just enough water over top of seedlings for five days. Then read others are using much more water as soil is all wet (not drowning) so the soil is now wet to just holding together. Lighting is from California Solar 550 with controller and pedestal fan. All vegetables there now on bench (no tent or anything else for cannabis later). Have photo and autos. Suggestions very welcome!
Learning to gather is always a welcome experience. I was a vegetable grower before I decided to switch over to cannabis. Used my own biochar for my plant beds and rose bushes. I grow pounds of tomatoes every single year from a tiny 2*2 plot of soil. I’ve never truly used nutrients and amendments outside of the random worm casting or compost that is gifted to me, so this will be a first for me to feed a plant with such an active feeding regimen. My biggest fear is not being able to diagnose a deficiency or lockout.
I have a tent setup on my garage, which will ultimately be my lung room thankfully it’s easy to dial in if need be. What strains are you thinking of growing or are currently growing?
You are in the right place, lots of experienced growers here happy to help out.
I’m sure with your experience it should be easy to transfer and you’ll see quick success.
I really do appreciate the kind words and support.
Biggest factor that helped me is literally to not overwater, To help me I use a dosing syringe and will only give around 100 cc water per day at most until the first major watering
Good luck bud ![]()
That’s a helpful bit of advice, thank you. I did get some pipettes to make smaller wTering easier.
Water in a circle around your little sprout…start with 2 cups of ph conditioned 6.5 water. This will encourage your roots to grow and spread bc they are seeking water. You can faintly see what I did here around the outside
Overwatering is generally the number 1 mistake….increase the water amount in first month as they grow till your watering with about 10-20% runoff.
Hello. How often do you water them, on average?
Usually every couple days, …however you should always stick your finger in the soil a good couple inches and feel it….If it feels dry proceed with watering.
That’s a general rule I used for my vegetable gardening. Nothing ruins a crop more than over watered roots.
Welcome! And sounds like with what u know ud be good for living soil or mixing ur own soil with organic advertisements!? But ur in a good place with ogs to newbs ill say research…research ……. If u dont know or ain’t sure ask however u choose to grow organic or bottled nutes aka salts ull be good here!
Update: 03/24 One Sour Diesel seed sprouted its taproot, almost about an inch long. Buried her root down into some happy frog soil with ocean forest on the bottom. Currently sitting under a 16/8 light cycle. Currently germinating another SD seed from a different cultivar, as the other SD from SeedSupreme hasn’t popped yet. Fingers crossed one on of those cultivars pulling through by Saturday.
I am trying liquid nutrients for this first few runs as well as fox farm products (at least until they sell out to Walmart, then I’ll have to stop buying their product.) I’ve done mostly organics for my vegetable gardens but their feelings are much different so it’s all a learning curve. I’m excited because one of my seeds finally popped so I’m Uber excited.
When you start the feeding, start lightly, maybe 1/2 strength until they ask for more
That’s what I keep seeing wherever I turn to do research. Even found a few respectable growers on YT that ascertained to the same thing. Definitely will go half strength to start off with.
Update 3/25: The second sour diesel seed from NASC popped and I see the beginning of a taproot. I’ll leave her for another day or so to get some growth on that root before I transplant into dirt. Can’t open my tent until 7:30PM anyway. Mornings are significantly hotter than nights so my light schedule is based around that. Lights come on when the sun goes down to still emulate the rise and fall of temps throughout the day.
Good job keeping up with the environment on when to make the jump into soil or whether ast you need consistent low vpd in this phase of growth from seed. Also maybe go ahead and bump that light cycle up to 18/6 with a lower light setting and dli , with the light high up and if the seed gets leggy ,up the potentiometer to a higher ppfd or dli over time! Play the cards right you can make any cultivar shine bright, And with minimal input. Hope it helps some holla if needed
Freebird you got a pretty good light for a veggie garden. Good fruits?
