For Heaven and Neil, cannabis has always been more than a plant. It has been a bridge to curiosity, creativity, and connection – first in their families, then in their own lives. For Heaven, it started quietly at home.
“I’ve always been around cannabis my whole life. It’s always been part of my life growing up. My dad always tried to grow little plants here and there.”
That familiarity carried forward. Later, her uncle grew more seriously. When legalization finally arrived, the curiosity that had lingered for years turned into action. Heaven built a small grow space at the back of her garage and took her first steps into growing. Soon after, she met Neil and introduced him to the grow area.
Turning A Hobby Into A Channel
Neil’s keen eye for detail saw potential in the space and room for improving the setup. But he had even bigger ideas in mind.
“Neil had some background in video,” recalls Heaven, “and he’s like, what do you think about starting a YouTube Channel?
When he was in high school, Neil had tried in vain to grow a plant under his bed. But after meeting Heaven and seeing her grow, it rekindled his interest. “That’s when I realized this is something fun we can do together,” he says. What started as a personal experiment became a shared project.
Eventually, Highigan was born – a collaboration grounded in care, exploration, and creativity. Today, the channel has amassed a following of over 180,000 followers, all tuning in for tips, news, and Heaven and Neil’s infectious chemistry.
Connection Through Cultivation
For Heaven, growing is rooted in security and knowledge.
“I didn’t want to keep meeting the guy on the corner,” she explains. “I wanted to know where it was coming from.”
“Growing means knowing exactly what you’re consuming, where it came from, and how it was grown.”
But it’s far more than that. The process itself – the observing, the nurturing, the adjustments – has always been captivating. For Neil, the process is about so much more than flower.
“For me it’s been a real rewarding experience. It’s been kind of a stress-reliever, just getting in the tents, growing.”
Neil approached it with a complementary lens. Growing offered him a way to explore creativity, not only through cultivation but through storytelling and sharing.
That leap transformed their hobby into a platform for education and community, capturing the journey for others while deepening their own engagement. Together, the act of growing has become a practice of connection. Weekly sessions, often shared with their patrons, provide rhythm and accountability.
Learning Patience and Perspective
Every grow carries lessons. ”Definitely patience,” Heaven reflects, “Trial and error is a huge part.”
Neil adds that the experience reshapes perspective, that even consuming the plant is different.
Mistakes are inevitable, but they are integral to the process. “No matter how long you’ve been growing, you can learn something,” Heaven explains. And when it all comes together – the first harvest, the first smoke from your own plant – it carries a quiet pride. There’s a unique satisfaction in seeing a plant growing from seed to harvest, knowing every decision along the way was yours. “I did this, this was mine,” she adds.
Like so many cultivators, the couple firmly believes that the personal experience of growing your own plants enriches the final product in way nothing else can.
“The best weed you’ll ever smoke, you grow it yourself,” says Heaven.
Creating Space for Exploration
Highigan’s approach blends curiosity with practicality. Automation and structure setups allow them to travel, attend events like Spannabis and MJ Berlin, and manage full-time jobs without sacrificing their connection to the plants.
Exploration extends beyond the flower. From dry bud to live rosin, they are constantly discovering new ways to experience terpene expression. “It’s another way to experience the plant, experience the terpenes and how it expresses itself beyond just the flower.” Neil says.
Working with Seedsman
Seedsman’s wide selection of genetics supports Heaven and Neil’s curiosity and gives them the opportunity to become creative in their approach to growing. "I like the idea of being able to find selections and grow things that we want to. I think that’s why Seedsman’s been such a great company to work with,” says Neil.
Community and Collaboration
Perhaps the most unexpected part of growing has been the people. Highigan has found a global network of cultivators – different styles, different techniques, all connected by a shared passion. The community offers inspiration and practical insight, and it reinforces the sense of shared purpose that began with a single garage grow.
The YouTube Channel amplifies this connection, letting them document their journey and share it with an audience hungry for insight, inspiration, and honesty.
Reflection and the Road Ahead
For Heaven and Neil, cultivation is a mirror for life. Patience, observation, and respect for natural rhythms extend beyond the grow tent. “It’s a type of therapy in a way. “Give someone a plant, and they’ll definitely learn a few things,” Heaven says.
Looking forward, 2026 is about discovery. Highigan plans to continue refining their growth, exploring hidden genetics, and engaging their understanding of the plant. They will attend Spannabis and Mary Jane Berlin, connecting with other growers and continuing to document their journey through content creation.
For Heaven, Neil, and everyone who joins them along the way, cultivation is more than producing cannabis. It is a practice of curiosity, care, and connection – an invitation to slow down, observe, and enrich life one plant at a time.
