Got a Ethiopian x Supa Slick Shore to germinate!
Most of the seeds, 6 of each have not yet germinated. This is most likely from the lack of cure like mentioned earlier in the diary but 1 ELR x SSS has cracked and is now in a root riot! WoO
An update on the other plants -
Scrogged down the InHouseGenetics - Sugar cane also taken clones off of it!
The cloning was done 7 days after topping the plant, 7 days after specifically as this is when the largest amount of plant hormones are present in the side nodes, encouraging them to root quickly. This is a practice often done in big grow operations!
The other clone of the Gorilla Meat is progressing well and the 2 other BLKad F2 mothers also, taken clones from them and might flower this pot with all 4 plants⌠Not certain yet

What if you donât want to top your plant? Were topping ours but just curious?

Shes only small because she is a stunted auto, im sure the photoperiod variety and even auto variety would yield way more than this phenotype on average, sadly it was mutated in seedling stage and had a harsh vegetation
When it comes to topping -
I top my photoperiods almost always, even if i do not know the genetics structure. Id say 90% of the time its worth it, especially if prolonging the veg period on the photoperiod after the top, which i advise atleast 2 weeks for recovery after. Also dont top after transplanting as the stress might be too much. Sometimes i will top my plants main node multiple times depending on how long i veg them for, also some times top side nodes, never more than 2/3 at a time if the plant is under 6 weeks old.
When it comes to autoflowers though its a different story. Often i finish my autoflowers in my vegetative tent with young plants and seedlings, this can be tricky with high humidity in there, so most times last 2 weeks i move the auto to the lower humidity 12/12 flower tent
Topping autoflowers needs to be done at a specific time - when the plant has developed a decent root structure, as well as a good amount of foliage. This is normally around 3/4 weeks for an autoflower, so you have to make sure the early period of the plants life has been good, with decent growth rate. This is because any stress will stunt an autoflowers growth rate - most times there is no point to topping an autoflower in my opinion, a âscrogâ or some form of âLow Stress Trainingâ is best. One other bit of advice - take any tension off of an autoflower when pistils/sex shows and the harvest will be more plentiful

Some times i will leave plants without topping just to get a note on there structure. Most times this is when im running a genetic im interesting in breeding with - even though, most times i will still train these plants in some way, with a âscrogâ in veg stage or âbud clipsâ

One of the best advantages to topping is having more nodes and healthiers ones!
When you top, hormones that are mainly in the main stem spread to the side nodes as a response! This causes the plant to increase the growth rate of the side nodes and to me this means more possible viable clones if i am interested in cloning her as well as higher yield!

I was trying to explain scrog to someone but as this will be my first time not sure I best to explain. Lol

A scrog encourages the plant to weave around a structure to redirect itself towards the light, opening up the plant, spreading out its canopy and allowing light to spread more efficiently over the plant.
When i use a âscrogâ in vegetation stage its not exactly considered a scrog but a simple training net.
In vegetation i will bend my plants down, pushing leaves and branches/nodes underneath this net, allowing the lower nodes that will become flowers later, to get more light than they normally would. Every few days or so i will push the branches back under the net after theyve peaked above it - partially strength training them and allowing me to mould the canopy to my liking and restrict height
I dont use a scrog net in flowering stage as i like to make my plants able to hold the buds + move them around. A long vegetation time with multiple training techniques is what i normally do.
in flower period, most times 2 layers are used as the plants will need the support
