Rick Simpson and How to make Full-Spectrum Oil (FECO/FSO/RSO)

“Three things cannot be long hidden; The Sun, The Moon, and the Truth. (Buddah)”

“Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease. (Hippocrates)”

“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold or silver. (Mahatma Ghandi)”

“The art of healing comes from nature, not from the physician. Therefore the physician must start from nature, with an open mind. (Paracelus)”

Who is Rick Simpson?

This is a quick overview of Rick Simpson. For a more in-depth look, find links to his content at the end of this article.

“Cannabis is the most medicinal plant known to mankind.”

In 1975, Rick Simpson was listening to CKDH radio in Canada when the announcer came on with a report of THC from the marijuana or hemp plant killing cancer cells. Three years previously in 1972, he watched his cousin pass away in a horrible death from cancer. So when he heard the report, it caught his attention. But as he never heard anything more about it, he figured it must have been wrong, otherwise they would surely be using it to treat cancer.

In 1997, Rick had a major head injury, and the Dr.'s pumped him full of drugs that did nothing for the condition. Additionally, many of the drugs had horrible side effects. Sound familiar?

In late 1998 Rick watched an episode of the Nature of Things, entitled Reefer Madness 2. Dr. David Suzuki interviewed many people with serious medical conditions who had been using hemp as a treatment; the results were amazing. (Rick uses the terms cannabis and hemp interchangeably. Somewhere in his stories, he clarifies that he means the hemp containing THC; aka marijuana.)

“Cannabis has been used in medicine for nearly 5000 years.”

Rick went out and got some hemp and started smoking it. Just smoking hemp did more for him than all the pills the Dr.'s had been giving him for years. So he asked them for a prescription. All refused, telling him, “Yeah, um, hemp is really bad for the lungs. Mmm-kay?” (South Park emphasis for humor, m-kay?)

So Rick asked about taking the essential oils from the plant and ingesting it orally as a medication. The Dr. agreed that it would be a much more medicinal way to use the drug, but still would not give him a prescription.

Before long, the side effects from the Dr drugs subsided. Then Rick developed skin cancer in three spots. He had surgery for one and scheduled surgery for the other two. He put the oil directly on the two remaining cancer sores, and in four days, both cancers were gone.

“Oils made from the cannabis plant are the most medicinally active substances ever found in nature.”

Excited about the oil, he went to the Dr.'s office for a copy of the pathology report that said he had basal cell carcinoma. He informed the receptionist that he had cured the cancer with hemp oil. The receptionist went berserk, claiming “the Dr. will not prescribe this”. They simply didn’t want to hear anything about it.

“When the Dr’s can’t cure you, you’ll try anything.”

Rick went on the advocacy trail, battling long and hard with officials who had no interest in his anecdotal evidence. So he took matters into his own hands, producing the oil since 2003, and giving it away to those in need, because he “wants people to know how to heal themselves”.

“Change your life. Come and take some real medicine, medicine that is safe and medicine that works for a change.”

Overview of the oil -

Rick Simpson Oil (RSO) is a full-spectrum, full-extract cannabis oil (FECO) known for its high THC content and proven therapeutic benefits. It is made by extracting cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis using a solvent; typically light naptha, high-proof alcohol like 99% isopropyl, or 95% ethanol/Everclear. The process involves soaking cannabis buds or trim in the solvent to dissolve the beneficial compounds, then evaporating the solvent to leave behind thick, tar-like oil. This oil can be used orally, topically, or in edibles, and is often administered in small, measured doses due to its potency. FECO is celebrated for its potential to alleviate symptoms of various conditions, including chronic pain, insomnia, and cancer, although scientific research on its efficacy is still limited.

Ingredients and Equipment Needed -

Ingredients:

  • Dried cannabis buds or trim

  • Solvent or high-proof alcohol (e.g., naptha, isopropyl, or ethanol/Everclear)

Equipment:

  • Glass container for soaking cannabis

  • Strainer with cheesecloth or coffee filters

  • Heat sources (e.g., rice cooker and cup warmer)

  • Stainless-steel cup (camping cups from Amazon)

  • Syringe or storage container for the final product

*Always work with solvents outdoors in a well ventilated area. Never attempt to make FECO indoors.*

*Step-by-Step Guide to Producing FECO *

1. Prepare the Cannabis

  • Select Quality Material: Use high-quality dried cannabis buds or trim. The potency of your FECO will depend on the quality of the starting material. Sativas will energize which can be desirable in some scenarios. Indicas will relax and induce sleep. Rest and sleep are a major part of most healing processes.

  • Decarb (Optional): Some users prefer to decarboxylate the cannabis first by heating it at a low temperature to activate the cannabinoids. Instructions for this process can be found in this community.

2. Soak the Cannabis

  • Combine with solvent: Place the cannabis in a glass container and cover it with solvent. Ensure the cannabis is fully submerged.

  • Soak: Let the mixture sit for several hours, stirring occasionally. This allows the solvent to extract the cannabinoids and terpenes.

3. Strain the Mixture

  • Filter: Use a strainer with coffee filters or cheesecloth to separate the liquid from the plant material. Squeeze out as much liquid as possible to maximize yield.

4. Evaporate the Solvent

  • Heat the Extract: Pour the strained liquid into a small rice cooker and gently heat it to evaporate the solvent. This should be done in a well-ventilated area, away from open flames.

  • Monitor Temperature: Keep the rice cooker temperature setting low to avoid burning the oil. The goal is to remove the solvent completely, leaving behind a thick, tar-like oil.

  • When most of the solvent is evaporated, transfer the oil to a stainless-steel cup and place on a cup warmer for 3 hours until all the solvent and water have evaporated.

5. Store the FECO

  • Transfer to Syringe: Once the solvent has evaporated, allow the oil to cool slightly. Use a syringe or a small container to store the FECO for easy dosing.

  • Label and Store: Keep the FECO in a cool, dark place to maintain its potency.

Usage and Dosage

FECO is highly concentrated, so it is important to start with a small dose, typically the size of a grain of rice. Gradually increase the dosage as needed. FECO can be taken orally, applied topically, or used in edibles.

Conclusion

Producing full-extract cannabis oil (FECO) at home can be a rewarding process, allowing users to create a potent cannabis extract tailored to their needs. Always ensure to follow safety precautions, especially when handling high-proof alcohol and heat sources.

Oil making starts about half way though, but we encourage you to watch the entire video!

Good information.

Here’s the report that got buried for decades after Nixon round-filed it:

Omg! Thank you! I hope all this info stays stored on here cause this is so detailed and awesome. I’m not ready to do this yet but such a greay resource for when i am cause I’m really really interested in this

Copy, paste, and save as pdf!

Then take that pdf and save it everywhere you can, local disk, usb drive, cloud, etc!

Good call! I didn’t even think of that. I was thinking screen shots but that adds up in the gallery and much harder lol thank you!

Nice post…one of the legends :ok_hand:

Do y’all post some of this in other forums or media? That’s great stuff to share with the world.

I dont get on anything else…got discord but ain’t been on awhile and ig here n there

Ya I don’t use nothing but here used to long time ago. And x till it became to much like Facebook and stuff.

It is based on how I do it, which is basically Rick’s method, and I made it exclusively for the community here. It is publicly available info. The links I posted are over 20 years old and still active. :pink_heart:

Yeah i did away with fb yrsss ago and Twitter/x never been on it

Used to get my news through x and follow space x and stuff but got to much.

I dont like who owns them lol and most forums are drama arguing! Im cool right here :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Agreed :100: I’m conspiracy girl though so I was following them found out though I’m happier not being there or reading news just go on bout my life.

Yeah seems like we got a good group of people here thats actually mature lol well ya u know
