Thank you, brother! Much apreciated. Casuals have no idea what I’m talking about when I reminisce about the skunk. When I ask for it at dispensaries the budtenders look bewildered and confused. “Something that tastes and smells like skunks?” They look up at their inventory like they’re lost until I tell them which jar to bring down for me to smell.

Yeah man, I struck out with my last one. It was skunk northern lights,
Although good, not that God awful stench I’m looking for either.
I was going to try these, once I save up money, or cash in my life insurance, :joy::joy:

I feel you will not find what you’re looking for in any seed bank inventory.

That was bred out a long time ago and only collectors and hunters will have anything close.

The closest you’ll find in an available inventory is likely from Todd McCormick, who got his from Mel Frank, who in 1988, was given the seeds by David ‘Skunkman Sam’ Watson personally. This will be a HUGE pheno hunt, but it will be there eventually.

The other option here is NASC, who has something they call “Burnt Rubber Skunk”.

Either way, you will need a medium heavy in sulphur to raise up the thiols you’re looking for.

I will try the sulfur. I’ve grown some pretty skunky og kush, but even that was more subtle than what I’m looking for.

It’s a bummer they’re feminized. I’ve never had any luck cloning femized plants without triggering them to go hermaphrodite.

I cloned one of my clones…hope that does not happen to it.

If the original mother was from regular seeds you shouldn’t have to worry. Breeders use mutagenic growth regulators to induce the hermaphrodite trait. 99% of clones on the market are from regular seed precisely because they’re more stable for cloning.

I’ve never had issues with hermaphroditism when cloning from feminized mother plants:thinking:

I was just thinking , I haven’t had any trouble with it until these last 2 grows:thinking: :person_shrugging: has something changed?

Which strains were the ones that turned hermaphrodite?

Was still able to get a bit of quality smoke, needed about 2 more weeks to really get good.
Kept 2 nice ounces worth and sent the rest to the crusher. Total was just over 7 oz On the skunk and 6 on the GC. I didn’t keep any of the small stuff off the lower inner branches. Probably would add another oz. Was almost great :+1:, lost em both right at the end for what we assume is street induced due to the water not providing enough oxygen to the root system.

The main thing is that you didn’t have to throw everything away. That’s acceptable, after all

:+1: yep, I consider it a tie, :knot: didn’t win big, but didn’t lose!
I’ll take it, and go again :joy::joy:

I got a couple bags of heavily seeded flowers from a friend, who got them from another grower. This was back in the early days of pitbull club in Oregon, and I suspect it was someone he met there. I was only told that one plant went hermy and seeded the whole growroom. He didn’t know which strain polinated the others when I asked. I asked if it was from feminized seeds or just from stress and he didn’t know. One bag was labeled island sweet skunk, and the other was labeled thor’s hammer. The island skunk didn’t impress me when I grew it out, but I did attempt to clone the thor’s hammer. I don’t remember getting hermaphrodite clones thinking back, in fact the issue was that I couldn’t get them to root at all. Since you’ve had success I definitely want to try again. The feminized ice dream cake seeds I got with my last seedsman order should be the perfect test subjects. I’ll be cloning this winter and I’ll be sure to post my results
