Is Indoor Cannabis Truly Better, or Are We Just Paying More for a Carbon Footprint?
Let’s talk about the big shift happening in 2026. The stigma that outdoor = mid-grade is officially dead.
[Team Indoor]: Mentions strict environmental control, high THC, and flawless aesthetics.
[Team Outdoor]: Points to the superior terpene profiles created by natural sunlight, living soil, and a drastically lower carbon footprint.
As sustainability becomes a differentiator, is the energy-intensive indoor grow model finally hitting a wall? Or will the demand for perfect aesthetics keep indoor on top? What matters more to you? The terpene complexity of the sun, or the controlled density of a tent?
Mid grade is all in genetics and how you grow them. To me, outdoor can be just as awesome as indoor. We even have an annual cup event here in California, Emerald Cup, dedicated to outdoor only grows.
That said, indoor is not as resource intensive as it once was. LEDs have cut the power consumption by 50-80%. Medium / water management has reduced water consumption as well.
Lastly, it is a gazillion times harder for some punkass kid to steal my grow when it’s indoors!
Well i just got 4 more planted outdoor. Guerrilla style lol walked about 3 miles. So for that makes 11. Wanted to take pics but fingers was too muddy. Cross fingers they all make it through to harvest!
I like growing outdoors.
Much simpler, you just can’t duplicate the natural sunlight.
The sun gives off energized particles that electric light just doesn’t have.
Indoor grow is much safer in regards to finishing a plant. outdoor can be very unpredictable
I’ve been doing out side growing for 40 years developed my own strain .
AND in all my years I cant remember ever seeing a plant grown in doors that produce over a pound of clean trim bud. I normally get 20 ounces or better of high quality good tasting weed per plant. .May have to pay closer attention to the type of pests .
Im an old country boy that prefers letting nature do its thing giving her a little boost here and there keeping them as organic as possible. No chemicals heavy pesticides or any chemicals i cant pronounce.
The feminization of seeds is the only thing chemically I want to affect my plants.
I live on 25 acres I only have one nieghbor close and we dont get along so he understands to leave me alone and stay away .I think in all the yrs. Mother Nature has been kind to me even in the drought years my plants turned out decent. Now every now and then during late grow she drops a storm or two that if i dont have them tied up nicely to a strudy steak she spanks me with the mixture of heavy down pours high winds and ten foot plants with big thick buds pushed to the ground .
I learned about it from all my friends in here it’s a net you run your side branches to after topping the plant then each side branch will grow a bud like the top would have.
I watched you tube video that someone sent me about it as well @MrNice helped me a lot when I first started. It’s best described as a 3x3 spread out like a trellis only horizontal instead of vertical thereby growing large photo plants in a small space as the buds fill out the net in 3x3 area.
