Just off the last hydro grow and we had mixed results. Once again, the plants did outstanding, right up to about mid flower. Then things start to go down hill, again.
We’ve determined several issues that need to be addressed in order to provide a better living environment.
Our plants always seem to fall off sharply from mid flower on.
We’ve determined the reason is insufficient oxygenated water to the roots. By the end of the grow, the root system has taken up most of the area in the 5 gallon bucket. The air stones are smothered in the roots and total water volume is down to about 1 and half to 2 gallons.
So we are going to do a total rebuild of the system.
We are going to increase the volume from the 5 gallon bucket to a larger volume container, add a recirculation system, and make some room upgrades. New flooring and wall covering is on the list as well as a few more fans. Our dehumidifier is acting up, so that’s on the list too.
But first, let’s do a little math…
28.519.610.3=5753.58
5753.58in3/231=√π=12.6
V=πR2h
V=3.14159*(5.92)213.38
V=3.1435.4*13.38
V=1488
R=14/5=2.8 so
VI=(14-5/5)100
9/5100=180…
At 8.34lbs per gallon/m3…
Ok..
By switching to a 14 gallon pot, we should gain a 180% more volume, thus, ensuring a healthy root system.
