Week 2 Flower and My Leaves Are Going Pale — Anyone Else?

Hey Seedsman fam :waving_hand:

So I’m officially into week 2 of flower and I noticed something that made my stomach drop a little — my leaves are starting to look pale and washed out, like that deep green is just… fading. Not crispy, not spotty, just a general “bleached out” vibe across the whole plant.

I grow in living soil indoors, so my first instinct wasn’t to panic — but I also wasn’t going to ignore it. Figured I’d post here and see who else has dealt with this, because I know I’m not the only one.

What I Think Is Going On

When you flip to flower, your plant shifts gears hard. She’s no longer just vibing in veg — she’s putting everything into bud production now, and that means her nitrogen demand spikes temporarily right at the flip. This early-flower yellowing is sometimes called the “transition fade” and it’s actually pretty common, especially in living soil where you’re relying on the biology in your medium to break down and deliver nutrients on its own schedule.

The microbes are working, but they might just be a step behind your plant right now. Since I’m in living soil and don’t want to nuke my biology with harsh synthetic salts!!! Smh

Has Anyone Else Seen This?

Seriously curious — do you guys see this transition yellowing in your living soil grows every run, or is it strain-dependent? I’ve heard some heavier feeders just bulldoze through nutrients faster during the flip.

Drop your experience below :backhand_index_pointing_down: Would love to know what worked for you.

Happy growing :seedling:

Hiya :waving_hand:
Although the “fade”, is normal, it shouldn’t show up until the end, starting around week 6, I e never had one start that soon.
I would suspect that it’s low on nitrogen

Like Steven said, whole plant yellowing from the bottom up is Nitrogen deficiency. Your soil is depleted and will need amending. Some CalMags have Nitrates that would help green them up in the meantime, you could foliar with it as well

I dont think ive ever experienced it.

I grow my plants in soil and fertilize & topdress the soil every 30 days. The experts here know what they’re talking about. I hope your issue is resolved soon.
