First time I notice a few little dudes like this in the soil. Friend or foe?:
You got mosquito’s where you’re at? I’m kinda blind, but that looks to me like mosquito larvae.
@mrnice could likely help further identify what we’re looking at. He’s really good at that soil stuff.
Omg, could it also be moth larvae? I’ve been wondering where these moths are coming from, lmao. There’s been a random moth popping up out of nowhere a couple times in the last few weeks in an area where there are never any. Im pretty sure I got a mosquito too though. That would make a lot of sense.
When I think moths, I think caterpillars.
When I think of flys, gnats, mosquitos, I think larvae like that. Flys are usually bigger, then become maggots. Gnat larvae is next to impossible for me to see with a naked eye. That’s why I went with mosquito.
Looks like a springtail to me, good guy they eat fungus and dead stuff
