i grow in coco, hand watered. have knowledge based in commercial cukecumber and tomato. one thing that makes me wonder is ec values of feed and overdrain in cannabis. i cant control climate the way a commercial grower can but i can control ec. usually i aim for feed at 2ec and less than 3ec overdrain depending of age. i’m sure each variety has a sweet spot. does anyone have further insights on this?
Cannabis and tomatoes are very close in what they need vs what they can handle, based on environment of course.
Seems to me that 2ec feed vs 3ec drain is a lot of salt buildup, but I could be wrong.
We’ve always pushed for <10% differential, testing after roughly 15%-20% runoff.
As always, YMMV. I’m sure more will post on this topic.

Better if you don’t stack EC like that unless you are doing intentional controlled drybacks. Water more frequently/ with more runoff and you will have much more control of feed EC.
A 1ec jump would mean an extra ~1g of salts left in the pot per L of solution.
so thanks for insights. this is what i am pondering, if tomato or cuke is fed[recirculating, commercial greenhouse] less than ec3 quality and production suffer. sweet spot for these is 3.5. i have grown greenhouse strawberries peat mix drain to waste less than ec2 bad sweet spot seemed to be 2.5.
so if plant tissue sap is ec2 or higher and plant metabolites accumulate at higher feed ec, and cannabis is a heavy feeder at times i have no clear answer . but i do know growing in peat mix letting ec climb to ec3 and tapering to finish has worked.
but today i only grow for myself, 70/30coco perlite. plants are ferociously feeding and ec for overdrain not reaching 2 ,feed at 1.5. all my feeding knowledge on other plants tells me this is low. i use led lighting, high dli at 50 start of flower. any opinions at this point would be appreciated. thanks
The only way to really know if that is low is look at the plants. Those numbers are a great reference but all plants are a bit different. We push hard on nutrients. We’re using Coco Coir perlite, organic nutrients. Bump up ppms a little and see if you get a little tip burn. Then you know if you’ve hit what they can handle. We just continually bump them up in flower. If they can take it. We grow multiple strains. Not all like the same amount of nutes. Then we back down after 5-6 week of flower. To get ready to flush.
the give them what they can take is wise advice. with the backoff on nutes nearing the end is exactly on point. just kinda wonder different strains different responses and timing of the push. and every room is a little different. i could go on, im always full of questions with not enough time or space to experiment. so i thank you for your insight. ill take a new pic or two soon.
Looking good to me. It hard when running multiples to really know unless you run them individually. Take Care
What type of dry ammendments you using? Looks like now you need to act. You’re in early flower. You want P and K. Bat guano Feather meals kelps all boost these. In what ratio it depends on what soil you’re running, pot size etc. You can do a quick tea for more instant fix. Top dress is 7-10 days before it breaks down. I recommend do top dress and get tea brewing now. To use on them tomorrow. Theses are what we use.
Teas are more instant. Top dress works slow and steady
