Ecothrive living soil - Barney's Farm Lemon Cherry Gelato, Cherry Poppers, Watermelon Zittles Auto and Anesia's Epic Buzz Auto

Hello and welcome to my Cultivtion diary.

I’m using Ecothrive living soil and thier full line up of products (my first run using Ecothrive and definitely looks like I will be using them again) in my xxl Autopot system. I have 4 plants in a 4x4 tent.

This is also my first attempt at a Northern Scrogger style training but I only built A Northern Scrogger screen to run last week and my ladies were about to start there 5th week from seed. I was using the standard 150mm trellis that you can find just about anywhere and I found it difficult to scrog effectively with that. So my ladies were probably a little too tall but all seems to be going alright for a first attempt. Also not making my life easy by having two photoperiods and two autos. Or so I thought. My Epic Buzz I’m pretty sure it is a photo photoperiod and not an auto. I didn’t do a whole lot of training if any on the autos before the scrog screen went up. The Lemon Cherry Gelato and Cherry Poppers have been topped once.

I’m using an AC Infinity Evo 6 and the 69 pro + controller, along with 150mm inline fan and 150mm oscillating fan both AC Infinity.

I’ve mixed vermiculite into my Ecothrive Living Soil. 160 litres of soil to 100 litres of vermiculite and also adding Ecothrive’s Charge at 1 litre for my 260 litres of Ecothrive’s living soil and vermiculite mix. I put about 45 litres of my mixed soil into each pot, along with some of my home made worm castings and a handful of worms.

As I normally do, I planted the seeds directly into the XXL 50 litre Autopot fabric pots and placed a clear mixing bowl on top to act as a humidity dome. Within five days, 3 of the seeds had broken through the surface but my Watermelon Zittles was a no show, I gave her a couple more days and still nada. I then popped another Watermelon Zittles a few cm’s over to one side and Within 5 days she was also breaking through.

For the first week I had them on 24 hours of light and switched to 20/4, another week then switched to 18/06 until last week when I switched to 12/12

I’ve used Ecothrive living soil feed calculator and following that. They get .2ml of Trace and .4ml of Flourish with every litre that goes in the reservoir, since week 2 and getting a foliar spray every two weeks, alternating between Trace and Flourish at 10ml per litre. I’ve top dressed with 3 tablespoons Ecothrive Grow amendment on week three and five. They have also been getting a top watering once per week Biosys or Bio Blend alternating between the two.

I did turn on the Autopot system a bit too early and had some classic overwatering signs. A very droopy Epic Buzz at one point and a few lower leaves showing deficiencies a few of the ladies so I waited a few more days before turning it back on. I had the Watermelon Zittles line turned off for about 10 longer as she a week younger than the rest.

I’ve always ran organic grows and have made my own living soil but I never ran any soil tests and never really knew exactly how much to reamend my soil.. not the case with Ecothrive Living Soil. I would normally add some FPJ and compost teas but seeing this is my first run with Ecothrive, I want to have a base line for what there system can deliver before I start going wild. Other than me overwatering, oh and snapping a few branches. Twice on the Watermelon Zittles trying to tuck and a big lower branch on Lemon Cherry Gelato when get this, I was just trying to work my top dress in and carelessly popped it when my finger hit the knuckle on the main stem, although that branch is still hanging on in there curtesy of an AC Infinity velcro cable tie. It’s been a pretty straightforward run so far and I’m really enjoying the complete Ecothrive range.

So currently at four days of 12/12, I would say the Watermelon Zittles is probably somewhere between nine and 14 days of flower. I’m really pleased with how everything is looking, I hope you will join me for the rest of this run and if you have any questions please ask. Pics to follow.

first pic is of the repair to a snapped branch, luckily it didn’t completely come off and I was able to wrap some duck tape and a handy AC Infinity velcro strap ro protect and hold it in place.

2nd is a group shot from today. So we are all caught up now and I’ll keep this diary up-to-date with the ongoing in my tent.

these pix are so fresh - gorgeous plants colors setup - living soil is new to me and this is a sweet introduction - really enjoyed reading and viewing your grow posts, and looking forward to seeing these beauties bloom

and those ac infinity velcro straps are very handy indeed - use them for cables on my pedal board and tons of other things lol

all the best with the rest of your grow + thanks for sharing

@queenofbliss @Fritzbotanicals @Smokeout81 thanks for the kind words. Much love.

I did probably my last major tuck last night and I have a pic taken from before , just after and less than 24 hours after the tuck

Also last time for a foliar spare today on these ladies and I did a light defoliation before I sprayed them down

This is the before shot and today’s foliar at 10ml per litre

I love how resilient these plants are and how quickly they respond to LST. I only use leaf tucking and a net with very low stress training. I do try to dedicate one plant per grow to try something new with but I prefer mostly natural growing. Great job by the way!

@Fritzbotanicals this is my first proper scrog and it feels terrible at first when you tuck what looked like a really happy canopy and straight after they look smashed and battered but it is so impressive that less than 24hrs you can barely tell I did anything.

loooove these shots - its magical to watch your own plants grow but getting to see other’s like this in addition is supremely awesome - a total delight

yeah @Fritzbotanicals and @Bongo the resilience of this plant is probably second to none - like anything made from hemp fiber… for years i just let the plants grow - zero training, then tried supercropping when i first read about it but always had a hard time disturbing their gorgeous symmetry

in recent years have done much more topping cropping and lst / tying and its been a great experience learning how to work with the plants this way for more prolific yields

last year in the fall got some bonsai mothers established for favorite strains and did a lot of experimenting with cloning - this really shifted the perspective because man these clones are like supernatural - have so many, in pots in cups of water and tried several methods of cloning just to see what worked best because you have to trim mothers every 2 weeks so there are ample cuttings to work with, and no matter how seemingly rough it appeared for them they just keep going strong - seeing your scrog process and how fast they got elevated is very inspiring and affirms their superpowers even more

such a vibrant group you have there - so enjoying getting a peek at your garden as it grows!!! and appreciate you sharing all this with us

peace and love back to you - and your crew

I would love to do more with the amazing plant like you do. When I do my first photo grow I’m gonna clone right away cause hey why not. But being used for so much is awesome

Yo yo all,

I’m eight days into to flower now for the photoperiods and about two and half weeks for the auto flower I would say. I gave them all a top dress with the bloom amendment 45ml per pot and 100mls of charge. All watered in with a bit of Biosys tea to help breakdown the amendments. I won’t be tucking any more branches from here on, just few fan leaves when the need arises.

I’m thinking that my next scrog run I will probably only need two plants to fill the tent, it will give me a bit more space to get in and around the plants more easily and still have a 4 to 6 week veg.
