I started growing in the early 2000s to avoid having to go into the city to get cannabis and to avoid not-so-friendly neighborhoods. My friend was moving, had an old HPS light, and needed moving money, so I did what any good friend would do: I bought his light and setup.
After several attempts to dial in my grow, I started seeing results. I continued to grow and eventually became the best in town, or so my cousin would say. I never sold anything and was just happy to hear what others thought.
After I had kids and all that grown-up stuff, I thought it was best to hang it up. Twenty years pass, the kids are old enough, and technology and information have gotten much better. So, here I am years later, learning the craft all over again. It’s remarkable to have everything you need at the click of a button. I’ve always had a passion for plants and my garden.
restarted my grow journey in my late 40s after developing chronic pancreatitis (CP). Mine isn’t from alcohol; rather, it’s caused by a Cystic Fibrosis gene mutation. I’m just part of the “lucky” 10% with this mutation who ends up with CP.
Because of this, I began researching modern cannabis and its benefits, and I’ve been growing ever since. It has significantly improved my overall quality of life.
This story hits hard for me, and if it doesn’t for you, that’s okay. Everyone struggles with life as we age; for me, this is my way to enjoy and tolerate it.
Thanks for reading.
