I have never seen a normal clone done on Male plants.
However with all the research I have been doing, if you are taking tissue culture and making clones from Tissue culture, you can make a male clone. As Tissue culture is not limited to female plants only.
I have not seen anyone selling them but from my understanding as long as you have the tissue culture you can make it into a plant.
I believe the males r important, I don’t have any scientific evidence,but I think we r lessing over all cannabinoid production by just making fems. The males add there Gen trades. That make the over all plant.. I think
One cool thing about tissue culture is that the sample size required is much smaller, so if you have a sick plant you can take your sample from the one spot that isn’t affected by insects and desease yet to revive the cut back to perfect health. That’s going to help for preservation, and the fact you can take a dozen samples off a single leaf doesn’t hurt for mass production either.
Do you mean you haven’t had much luck growing clones from homegrown seed company, or not much luck attempting tissue culture?
Tissue culture is a pain in the a$$ because it’s a sterile culture method. With traditional cloning you have an ecosystem of beneficial micro-organisms to outcompete pathogens. I’d like to try it, but I want to get a laminar flow hood first. At that point I might as well grow mushrooms too.
A lot of recent genetics have been made from fem breeding
When cannabis plants are used to breed with they share “alleles” and without introduction of a male plant, you can “stabalize” a genetic a lot easier but could be missing out on certain traits
You can TC any plant and store it inside a synthetic seed, meaning you can hold onto a specific phenotype and keep it until basically forever!
I can see in the near future, specific “cuts”/phenotypes being shared through synthetic seeds which would be cool, im also planning on taking some flower to a competition some time and bringing the pheno in a synthetic seed to share with others
Ive heard you can save/keep a autoflower with TC also! Which isnt possible through cloning
