Here’s my garden nearing the end of Veg week 4. I should have put my grow in this topic, but instead I made it as a topic that closed. Shoulda / coulda / woulda! So here I am!
Thanks to the community for answering my gals’ spider mite issues. You growers ROCK!
I’ve neemed them twice already, 3 days apart. Tonight I’ll lollipop them and then it will be neem beauty treatment 3 before lights out. Neem sure does stink! Adding some lavender oil to the neemy soap mix helps. Tonite I’ll add some rosemary oil for obvious reasons And I read that peppermint & clove oil are also helpful. Luckily, I have all these in the house. Apartment. What have you.
For this grow, my 4th, I lollipopped more aggressively than in the past. More airflow! Also there will be a fan at the soil level to help with making an inhospitable experience for the spider mites. I’m happy that I didn’t see any new pierced leaves tonight.
Thanks! I have been adding DE to the soil the day after watering.
And correct! I do follow Jeremy Silva’s Build A Soil way.
The lower fan is in place and a new fan will go at the height of the canopy.
I have named them all: clockwise from top right: Jennifer, Geraldine, Jill, Janelle, Gina (last two are the twins.) Not much room to SCROG but I’ll see what I can do. I planned on 4 plants this time, and the seed that twinned had other plans for my grow.
The growth is nuts! Jennifer is 2’ now. Must have been the rosemary oil HAHAHA probably not!
I started the light shift last night. Trying something new for my garden for this grow: the Bulid A Soil light plan of 16/8 for the transition week. Has anyone here tried this? Would love to hear it!
The gals are happy in their 16/8 light cycle. I have the tent set for a VPD of 1.1 which I will set to 1.2 at the end of the week when they get closer to poppin’ pistils.
I haven’t seen any more insects and no more pierced leaves. Fingers crossed! I’m going to still give them a beauty treatment or two before pistils arrive. Just to be sure that I got all their little insect life cycles.
I changed my mind and set lights for flower 12/12. These beasts are big enough already. I rearranged the fans when I added a small Vivosun dehu (lower left), which keeps the tent from getting above 60% RH. Since it vents hot air out of its top, I put it on same side as the exhaust fan.
Heat & humidity is a problem for my grows when the weather outside is frightful. It’s quite swampy here in the concrete jungle & my AC can only do so much.
Shifting the lights to run at night would have been a great idea for this grow! Methinks it’s too late. UNLESS I shift the lights one hour a day, so as not to shock them, until I have the bulk of their day to be my night.
This is so much fun to figure
out. I love growing cannabis!
The heatwave has kind of broken. Still very humid outside. Turns out that this time around, as opposed to last year’s heatwaves, it’s just too hot to use the tent dehu since it throws heat. I’m gonna move it out of the tent.
I’ve switched the lights one hour ahead every other day, so the plants are on a 13/12/12/12 cycle Today I watered them with some BioPhos which is the Rootwise gang’s concoction for flower stage. I had some left, maybe not enough for weekly waterings for the next 7-8 weeks, I shall see.
Also: I haven’t seen a pierced leaf nor a bug in the soil, so I believe the spider mites are gone. Will def give them a spray soon with Lost Coast anti-bug goo since it was recommended to me and it can be used in flower.
Thanks so much! I’m still having tent humidity issues. I have a few closet dehu packs (the hanging white/yellow gadgets) in there which are helping. Also having my living room AC on all the time helps. Not looking forward to my electricity bill but it’s an absolute must.
Beginning of Flower Week 3 and I think they are slowing down in stretch. Probably more like wishful thinking! Gina is 46” and I can’t raise the middle lights any more. Oh well! Not complaining in the least.
Thanks for all the love, everybody!
The gals are starting in Flower Week 4, and the stretch has slowed down, and hopefully this may be it. Maybe?!
Gina and Jennifer are about 51” (1.29 meters for those Metric out there.) I drew a blue line in the above photo to show where I first put up the SCROG net. I will put a 2nd net in soon to support bud weight when that starts to happen.
It’s amazing to me that I don’t have to bend over to look at the flowers with a jeweler’s loupe. At my height the tops are at my eye level. HTF?!
The only thing I did differently this grow was to add some Kashi Gold probiotics in with the fertilizer when I reammended the soil & at every 30 days. Everything else was the same: Watering with tap water always & weekly adding Rootwise mychorrize & saponin during veg, adding Rootwise Bio Phos & saponin during flower. Every 30 days they get BAS Craft blend fertilizer / Kashi Gold / BAS Top Dress.
I have the smart humi’s VPD set to 0.8 in seedling stage, 1.0 in veg. I turn the humi off altogether in flower since transpiration kicks the RH% to over 65%. Then the dehu closet bags & room dehu enter the conversation.
This is so rewarding!!!
Thanks so much!!!
I have friends over for Harvest parties where we sample the crop. During those parties, my garden has been reammending / tiny seedlings / veg week 2. This time I’m going to have pals over to see the bounty of the late flower stage.
