How much flower did you use to make that? That’s what I would rather do. Or make some RSO. Cookies are always good.
No flower, just the sugar trim from a run. Didn’t weigh it, a packed shoebox full ![]()
That’s not to bad then for trim and leaf. I don’t real make edible. We smoke vape and dab. That’s were most of our stash goes. Pressing rosin takes quite a bit
Dang auto correct ![]()
Yeah I’m not a concentrates fan, coughing hurts a lot and it destroys my already high tolerance and have to use twice as much flower for relief.
That’s where I am. I try to vape mostly. Eating it zi don’t feel much, but I’ve never really had quality edibles. Always state dispensaries.
Edibles rely on liver CYP450 enzymes to break down the Delta9-THC into 11-hydroxy-THC. There is a rare gene you could have that makes people not produce the right enzyme and edibles have very little to no effect on, regardless of dose. We use the enzyme up quickly and slow to replace which is why most people build a tolerance to edibles fast.
I’ve read some people can’t get high from edibles. They metabolize it to fast.
@MrNice that’s exactly what I’m thinking. It doesn’t seem to do much for me. I’ve eaten cookies and given my cousin the same kind and he was lit. I wasn’t!
Could have the gene, the enzymes are also used to break down certain medications so maybe something you are taking is using it all so you already have the very high tolerance. I think liver damage can also cause people to make less
Well, I guess inhalation is my best option. Topical work great so that’s a plus. I could make topicals instead with the leaves.
I’m trying to get @Sassy to learn about edibles, tinctures, and CBD as I hate that she is on all those meds with side effects. Steve and I are going to get her a pure CBD to try. I invited her to join here to learn about cannibis she doesn’t like feeling high or smoking cannibis but I believe she can still get the benefits and just needs to learn about it all so I invited her here. Great post I hope she reads it.
I got some gummies from Mr nice.com holy good stuff
I’ll have to check it out Sassy don’t like to feel high… That’s the problem I’m having getting her to try it.
Put in some coffee
I’ve done the oil and butter, but I think tinctures is where its at for me. My last couple batches of infused sugar has come to about 100mg/tbsp which makes for some good treats ![]()
I use a wash method similar to what the OP posted, but I let mine sit in the freezer for longer and just give it a couple of shakes each day.
One suggestion I’d share is don’t skip on the filtering. First time I only did a cheese cloth to strain the bits out, now I also use a buchner to get the fine stuff out. You can see the difference in the before and after in the beaker. I’ve also started using a distiller to reclaim some of the alcohol for helping reduce the amount of time it takes to vape off the sugar mixture and so I’m not having to buy as much alcohol. So that 800ml I take down to about 200ml before mixing into the sugar.
The last batch of cookies I made you couldn’t even smell or taste the “grassy” after taste that I had gotten before when I first started. I’ve even put some of the sugar into coffee..talk about your wake n’bake ![]()
Using the tCheck is how I figure out how much sugar to mix in to get the strength I’m looking for. This run got me about 2.5 cups of sugar.
i have a few questions for everyone. i make cannabutter but i have always put pound of butter 1to2 oz cannabis and water in a pot. cook low almost no bubbles for hours. strain the mix put in fridge to get butter to harden on top. seems ok but looking to improve, baking seems easier. decarbing is confusing, wouldnt baking at 170f do that? what is the upper limit of cannabis to butter with the baking method, i use popcorn mostly sometimes primo tops.has anyone tried the water method and how does it compare to baking.
@mgbuds , the limit for decarbing is 285°F (dependent on strains cannabinoids, terpenes, and structure), but wouldn’t go above 245°F for most strains. Allow the flower to decarb for at least 25-35 minutes maybe a few minutes more depending on the amount of flower you’re doing at once. The baking process (170°F-190°F), to me, helps meld the chemicals being derived, into the butter. Again, everyone has their way of making buddar. This is the way I have made it over the past 16+ years.
