The Easy Days
I was introduced to this amazing plant at the age of 13. It was at that time, when my racing brain had calmed down, my focus took over and I was happy! I didn’t know why, but I knew that this stuff was working and it’s the stuff for me. I was a paperboy and the Paper Shed is where it all began. At that time it was easy to get a nickel ($5) or a dime bags ($10) of some good Mexican weed. Find your dealers at their known locations and score!
Changing of Times
Then Sensimilla weed(The Green Weed) came around and now a dime bag was $25 bucks and harder to find. I was growing weed outdoors with little success so I still had to rely on my dealers. In those days, we did not have cell phones or even pagers. You could go to a known location and hope to find some bud or call your dealer from a landline and hope they were home. Now, when you made your call to get your bud, the conversation was almost in code or very vague. You just stopped over to see what you could get and that was it. If it was too seedy, ditch weed, or fire you still got your weed! Oh yeah! And don’t forget about the ‘Dry Season’, when no weed could be found. This is when hash(red, blonde or black) usually came around for $5 or $10 a gram. It was getting rough and too much work trying to get good weed.
The Time Has Come
It was in the early 2000’s when I started to grow indoors with fluorescent lights and bag of weed seeds. The time has come to start growing my own cannabis and take matters into my control. In the early 2000’s we did not have easy access to all of the growing supplies that we have now. There was no real good online presence to get your growing supplies and it was expensive to ship. So, the rule of thumb was to treat your cannabis plant as if it was a tomato plant and you will be good to go! Once I learned the anatomy of the cannabis plant and how it lived, my growing season became more successful with bountiful rewards of good weed!
Living with Cannabis Cultivation
Now a days, I grow with LED lights (Horticulture Lighting Group), coco coir and seeds primarily from Seedsman! I have defined my growing style as a perpetual grow set up operating during the winter months (night time hours). I have found that by taking the time in veg state to manifold train (through topping and LST) my cannabis plant so that when in the flower stage you only have to do leaf defoliage. Trimming is much easier and quicker, and the bud quantity and quality have improved. I have found the best strains that work for me medically and continue to enjoy the cultivation of this wonderful plant.
